Delta State governorship candidate for the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ifeanyi Okowa aspiration to govern the state,
received a boost at the weekend, as Urhovie Community Development Initiative in
Delta State declared its support for him.
The declaration was made at Abraka,the state’s University
town, when the group, led by its president, Cyril Okposio Cyril and secretary
general,Omomaife Aghogho at a rally held in support of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
Speaking on behalf of the Initiative, the president said
the call has become necessary to appreciate and commend Senator Okowa for his
numerous empowerment efforts since his days as commissioner and Secretary to
the State Government (SSG) in Delta State.
“We primarily conveyed a meeting in Abraka where we
resolved to support and mobilise for Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who on different
occasions has extended assistance to his constituency and the entire state. He
is a man who believes in the welfare of the downtrodden in the society. He has
continued to identify with all Deltans inspite of ethnic background.
“We want someone who has great leadership qualities and
experience to pilot the affairs of our state and to help develop our community
that has lacked basic amenities,and from the list of those candidates, Okowa
stands tall.”
