Arsenal FC to hire Wolves boss as Unai Emery sack nears

Arsenal have made Nuno Espirito Santo their number one target to replace Unai Emery.

The Spaniard is struggling at the Emirates and is under intense scrutiny after a poor start to the season.

Unai Emery is under increasing pressure at the Emirates after a poor run of form
Head of football Raul Sanllehi and director of football Edu want to give the former PSG boss more time at the Emirates.

But, Sanllehi is also firm friends with Santo’s agent Jorge Mends.

According to the Daily Mail, the Wolves boss has impressed the Gunners’ hierarchy with the way his team play.

The Portuguese lead the club out of the Championship two seasons ago, with many critics considering them the best side to ever play in the English second tier.

Santo is rapidly establishing himself as one of the best managers in the Premier League
Santo proved it to be no fluke, finishing first in his debut Premier League campaign, taking the scalps of several top clubs along the way, as well as reaching the FA Cup semi-final.

Wolves are currently in the Europa League as a result of their previous success, initially struggling with the extra work load.

But, once again, Nuno has proved to be the right man for the job and has lead the club back to fifth in the table and in pole position to qualify from their Europa League group.

The Gunners are considering putting first-team coach Freddie Ljungberg and academy boss Steve Bould in charge until the end of the season, when their top-tier candidates should be more readily available.
