Early Morning Bomb Explosion Rocks Abuja City Kills Scores

A bomb explosion this morning at Nyanya, a densely populated suburb of Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital, has killed many and left scores injured.

The explosion, which occurred around 6.45 am, took place at the Nyanya Motor Park as people were boarding vehicles to get to their places of work.

According to unconfirmed reports the explosion is believed to have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which was planted inside a luxury bus at the motor park

Although initial reports indicated that more than 200 people where killed in the blast, our correspondent at the scene of the incident counted about six dead bodies yet to be evacuated to the morgue, while body parts littered everywhere.

About five vehicles were burnt while more than 10 luxury buses popularly called ‘el-Rufia’ were damaged as fire servicemen put out the raging fire that followed the blast
