Rita Jeptoo Banned 2 Years For Failing Dope Test


Kenya -- Rita Jeptoo, a three-time winner of the Boston Marathon and two-time Chicago Marathon champion, was handed a two-year doping ban Friday in a case that has cast a shadow over Kenya's famed distance runners.

Jeptoo tested positive for the blood-booster EPO in an out-of-competition test last September, a few weeks before winning her second straight Chicago Marathon title. Both the "A" and "B" samples were positive.



Suge Knight Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder


Popular rap executive, Suge Knight has been arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday , in which he allegedly ran over two people on the Straight Outta Compton set, killing one.

The Los Angles Times reports that he has been held on a $2 million bail. He turned himself into authorities early Friday after police dubbed him a person of interest in a “vehicle versus pedestrian” incident in Compton, Calif. during a shoot for the upcoming Universal movie Straight Outta Compton, documenting the rap group N.W.A.

FIFA President Submits Bid To Run For Fifth Term


Sepp Blatter, FIFA president, on Thursday submitted his candidature for a fifth term as president of world football’s governing body.

Blatter wrote on his twitter account thus “Today (Thursday) is a key date in the electoral calendar. I’ve made my submission, now the electoral committee follows a process,” the 78-year-old Swiss wrote.

US Secretary Of States Arrivals Nigeria Over Nation's 2015 Election


U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Nigeria on Sunday to urge its rival political camps to respect the outcome of a Feb. 14 presidential election, amid concerns that post-poll violence could undermine the fight against Boko Haram militants.

Kerry's visit to the commercial capital Lagos, in which he was to hold talks with incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan and challenger Muhammadu Buhari, highlights the stakes for Washington in what is expected to be Nigeria's closest election since its 1999 transition from military rule.

Suspected Hoodlums Attack All Progressive Congress (APC) Party Members




A group of suspected political thugs on Saturday attacked members of the All Progressives Congress [APC], who were setting up equipment and canopies for a scheduled political rally, the APC chairman in Okrika, in Rivers State.

In a statement entitled “Again, the PDP-led Federal Government attacks the people of Okrika” and emailed to an online news portal, Mr. Asifamaka said his party members were shot at and chased away as they readied the venue of a scheduled rally.

Ground Breaking Technology: Honda Plans All-Electric Models, Plug-In Hybrids By 2018


Honda has revealed its plans to introduce two all-new models that can be charged from a wall socket: one plug-in hybrid and one battery electric vehicle.

As with the turbo engine announcement, Honda was mum on any further details about vehicle size, shape, style or electric range of the new models, except that they both will be introduced “by 2018.” And in the car world, that’s right around the corner.

Court Summons D'Banj Over Dirty Debt Mess


D’banj's debt mess is far from being over as Lagos State's high court has pasted a summon in his house.

He is being summoned by an oil magnate Henry Ojogho, who borrowed him the sum of 60 million Naira in the first quarter of 2013 with the promise to pay back within the year which he defaulted despite signing an undertaking.

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has died aged 90 after a short illness, state television announced late on Thursday. He has been succeeded by Crown Prince Salman, his half-brother.

The news came after the king was admitted to hospital on 31 December suffering from pneumonia. His condition was said to have improved a few days later.

Man Caught Smuggling 94 iPhones Tapped To His Body


Southern Chinese Authorities have detained a man who tried to smuggle 94 iPhones into the country from Hong Kong by taping the devices to his legs, chest, stomach and back, a local newspaper reports.
