Death Toll Of Bauchi Bomb Explosion Rises


Causality figure of the bomb explosion at the busy phone market known as Kasuwan Jagol in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State has risen to 31, while 30 other victims are currently on admission.


The Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Azare, Dr. Abduallhi Ibrahim, who gave the figure, told newsmen that the hospital recorded 17 deaths and that 30 of the victims of the bomb explosion were on admission.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, had said 13 died and 65 were injured in the blast.

Giving the breakdown of the causality figure, the Chief Medical Director said of the 17 that died in the hospital, 14 were victims of the explosion and three were suspected suicide bombers.

He stated that doctors and nurses defied Joint Health Workers Union (JOHESU) strike to attend to the victims of the bomb blast, adding that the patients were responding to treatment.

However, Mohammed confirmed that one person, identified as one of the insurgents, was lynched by a mob.
